The American website Axios reported, citing a senior Israeli official, that the Israeli occupation expects to end its operation in the city of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, within 3 to 4 weeks.

Axios continued, quoting an Israeli official, that the occupation army is making significant progress in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, while the operation in Khan Yunis has only just begun, according to him.

Axios added, citing a senior Israeli official, that Israel aims to end the intense war phase by the end of next January.

Israeli Channel 12 announced that 40 people injured as a result of the fighting in Gaza were transferred to Soroka Hospital in Beersheba.

Previously, the Israeli occupation army announced that two soldiers were seriously injured during an operation to rescue prisoners held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Earlier, the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas movement, published a video of the captured Israeli soldier Sa’ar Baruch, before his death today in Gaza, in addition to scenes from the thwarted operation to free him, which took place in the early hours of Friday morning.

The Israeli prisoner said in the video in which he appeared several days ago that he was captured on October 7, that is, about 40 days ago at the time. He was 24 years old and demanded to return to his home.

For his part, Abu Ubaida, spokesman for the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas movement, said that Al-Qassam fighters were able, during the last 24 hours, to completely or partially destroy 21 military vehicles on all fronts of the fighting in the Gaza Strip.

Abu Ubaida continued: “Our fighters thwarted an attempt to free the captured soldier, Sa’ar Baruch, which led to his death in addition to the killing and wounding of a number of other Zionist prisoners, due to the barbaric bombing of the Gaza areas.”

Abu Ubaida added: “They also targeted the Zionist forces and vehicles penetrating the concentration and positioning areas with anti-fortified shells and anti-personnel devices, and clashed with them from zero distance and caused certain deaths and injuries.”

Abu Ubaida pointed out: “Our forces also blew up a number of tunnel openings and homes belonging to enemy soldiers. They also bombarded military concentrations with mortar shells and short-range missiles, and directed intense missile barrages towards Tel Aviv and other targets.”

The Al-Qassam Brigades had announced earlier on Friday that its mujahideen were able to blow up a house in which dozens of occupation soldiers were barricaded with explosive devices and an anti-personnel shell. The mujahideen then attacked the house with machine guns and killed and wounded members of the force in the eastern Khan Yunis axis.
