The Occupation and Provocative Israeli Settlement Policy: Selective Perspective on Gaza Conflict

I think any presentation of the conflict in Gaza that does not mention the “elephant in the room”, the occupation and the provocative Israeli settlement policy, especially in the West Bank, is selective and shows tunnel vision.

With the double standards glasses on

Israel’s response to the heinous Hamas massacre is completely disproportionate and unworthy of the civilized state Israel always claims to be. To be lawful, a state’s use of armed force in self-defense against an armed attack must be necessary and proportionate. There can be no balance in judging terrorists (Hamas) and civilized states (Israel).

What Israel is doing now with its far-right government is just revenge and can only create a new generation of terrorists and more anti-Semitism.

The Israelis have no plan for what comes next. Unfortunately, releasing the hostages and stopping the rockets from Hamas will not “solve” the problem.

First, Israel’s warfare must be stopped with immediate effect.

Then there is only a two-state solution that can end the violence, which presumably involves a withdrawal of the 750,000 Israeli settlers from the West Bank, who have known from the start that they have acted illegally under international law. There is plenty of historical precedent for such population movements.
