Affected by dry continental airflow, the south coast of China is generally sunny. The Observatory recorded a temperature of 35.9 degrees this afternoon, beating Hong Kong’s record for the highest temperature in September for the second time in nine days. More than a week ago, on September 5, the Observatory also recorded a high temperature of over 35 degrees.

The Observatory said dry continental airflow will bring persistently warm and sunny weather in southern China from this week to early next week. Affected by the eastern airflow, cloud cover along China’s southern coast will increase in the middle of next week and the temperature will be slightly lower.

The Observatory expects nice and warm weather in the afternoon and tonight, with very dry and foggy weather. Weak to moderate north wind is expected; from this week to the beginning of next week it should stay nice, warm and dry; the temperature in the urban area will reach 35 degrees in the next day or two, with light winds and haze.
