NEW YORK – The New York Times (NYT) has confirmed the authenticity of a video circulating online showing more than 10 Russian POWs being executed by Ukrainian soldiers.

The video was shot in the village of Makeevka as it was being recaptured by Ukrainian troops.

Comparing the video with satellite images, The Times confirmed that the video was shot on a farm in the village.

Some of the videos are part of a series of four drone videos released Nov. 12 by a pro-Ukrainian Telegram channel reporting the recapture of Makeevka.

The Times has verified that another aerial video was also recently recorded in the village, the newspaper said on Sunday (11/20/2022).

The report pointed out that Russian soldiers can be seen lying dead in the video, positioned as they surrender.

“It appears that most of them were shot in the head,” Physicians for Human Rights medical adviser Dr. Rohini Haar told the newspaper.

He added: “There was a pool of blood. It shows they were left to die. There didn’t seem to be any attempt to catch or help them.”
