The NY Philharmonic launches its own streaming service

The New York Philharmonic on Monday launched an on-demand audio and video streaming service called NYPhil +, available for $ 50 a year or $ 4.99 a month.

The initial selection includes David Lang’s “Prisoner of the State” and Julia Wolfe’s “Fire in My Mouth,” both with musical director Jaap van Zweden, and a new concert with conductor David Robertson and pianist Emanuel Ax.

It spans five decades of PBS’s “Live From Lincoln Center” concert program, as well as live broadcasts on Facebook.

It does not currently include performances with Leonard Bernstein, the musical director of the orchestra from 1958 to 1969.

New programs will be added in the coming months.

The New York Philharmonic stopped performing large-scale live concerts last March due to the new coronavirus pandemic.
