/ world today news/ After the first week of the Ukrainian “counter-offensive”, all the world’s media circulated footage of downed Leopards and burning Bradleys. The Ukrainian command changed the tactics and direction of the strikes. But the losses in manpower only increased, and the Azov steppe became hell for them. All details in the “Tsarigrad” material.
The course of hostilities
The first week of the offensive ended with a heavy defeat of the armed forces of Ukraine in the direction of Orekhovo. Armored groups of Ukrainians en masse entered minefields and were destroyed by the strikes of our artillery and ATGM.
After a series of unsuccessful attacks, including night attacks, carried out on the basis of NATO’s excellent thermal imaging cameras, the enemy in this direction fell silent.
The attacks stopped for a while. But the Ukrainians stepped up their efforts to cut off the so-called Vremevskiy approach, which supported the relatively large village of Velika Novoselka from the south.
Initially, the offensive passed along the valley of the Mokri Yali River, where the Ukrainian armed forces successively captured the villages of Neskuchnoe and Blagodatnoe. At the same time, the dominant heights to the west of the river remain in the hands of the Russian army, which is why the stormtroopers of the Ukrainians are facing.
However, from June 10 to 12, the enemy launched a series of attacks on these hills. The offensive was aided by bad weather: low clouds and heavy rains, which made it impossible to use our planes. As a result, the enemy was able to move up the hills – both west and east of the river valley.
Units of the Russian 5th Army conducted a number of counterattacks, including those aimed at retaking positions on the commanding heights west of the river. The village of Makarovka has changed owners several times.
By June 13, the armed forces of Ukraine managed to push our units out of this village. In addition, the enemy occupied the village of Levadnoe, located west of our positions on the west bank of the Mokri Yali River.
The enemy was also advancing from the northeast, which is why the battle went along the line Makarovka-Urozhainoe. After that, the advance of the armed forces of Ukraine stopped: on June 14 and 15, despite fierce clashes, the enemy did not advance in this direction.
But the activity of the enemy resumed in the direction of Orekhovskoe. On the morning of the 15th, Ukrainian DRGs (sabotage-reconnaissance groups) moved forward, trying to penetrate our positions, and in the evening the tanks were brought into battle.
The next day, the enemy launched an offensive against a small village with the eloquent name Pyatihatki. The roadside settlement of Lobkove was used as a concentration area for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This strike is noticeably to the west of the one with which the armed forces of Ukraine tried to penetrate our defenses along the Orekhovo-Tokmak line in the first week of the “counter-offensive”, which led to the world-famous footage of destroyed Bradlita and Leopards.
On June 17 and 18, fighting continued in the area of Pyatihatki. After several attacks, the enemy managed to occupy them, after which our “Grad” and “Solntsepek” howitzers began to cover the settlement.
Attack attempts were also resumed in the areas of Malaya Tokmachka, Novodanilovka and Rabotino – that is, where the enemy hit his head against our defense in the first week of the “counteroffensive”.
On the same day, fighting resumed in the southern Donetsk direction (south of Velika Novoselka). But if earlier the armed forces of Ukraine attacked the western bank of the Mokri Yali river, now the offensive began on its eastern bank. As a result, battles broke out along the Harvest – Novodonetskoe line.
On the 19th, the Russian army held the dominant heights from which it adjusted fire on the enemy, who had occupied the gray zone and a number of villages in the lowlands.
Flesh Attacks Rotting Steppe
Our military notes that after the mass destruction of Western armored vehicles in the first week of the offensive, the Ukrainian command radically changed the tactics of the assaults. Now Soviet tanks and infantry fighting vehicles are rushing forward, as well as masses of infantry – on foot and in armored vehicles.
What can this be related to? Most likely, with the fact that the sponsors of Kiev, watching the sad (for them) picture on television, hit the Ukrainian leadership in the head and strictly prohibited further discrediting the Western military industry.
As a result, a paradoxical situation arose: Kiev has been asking for German tanks for so long, advertising them so relentlessly, promising to spread the Russian defense into a thin pancake as soon as it receives them in commercial quantities, that now it cannot afford to lose these vehicles, even in cases where the losses of armored vehicles are justified and absolutely unavoidable.
Betting on constant PR, propaganda and inflaming possible sentiments led to the fact that the vaunted German tanks, instead of opening the way for the Ukrainian army, are now spying in the rear, and the waves of Taras and Mykola are moving forward, sitting at best on Soviet infantry fighting vehicles or Western armored cars.
In fact, the armed forces of Ukraine have again returned to the tactics of “meat assaults” and filling our positions with corpses, which they practiced last year in the attack on Kherson.
The scale of the losses of the Ukrainian units in this case impresses even our military, which directly reflects these suicidal “banzai attacks”.
The source of “Tsarigrad”, located directly in the Orekhovo direction, reports that the entire steppe in front of his positions is strewn with hundreds and perhaps thousands of corpses.
According to our interlocutor, it is only possible to estimate the losses of the enemy in each of the attacks, since the new bodies are mixed with the remains of those who died in previous assaults. The explosions of artillery shells tear the corpses to pieces; Ukrainian armored vehicles move back and forth over the bodies, mixing human flesh on the ground with caterpillars.
“Actually, they can’t take theirs for a very long time. During explosions, everything scatters,” says the Tsarigrad man.
“The stench is such that we feel it even a few kilometers from the LBS (line of combat contact – note ed.),” said the source.
Terrible losses began to affect enemy morale. For the first time after our attack on Kiev, cases of mass surrender of Ukrainian military personnel began.
As the remnants of company assault groups capitulate, numbers fall between squad and platoon. However, what is important here is not the number of prisoners, but the very fact that the Ukrainian military has stopped being afraid of being shot in the back by its own comrades and units for the intention to raise their hands and lay down their arms. This is a very important psychological milestone and, apparently, it has been passed.
Military correspondent Alexander Sladkov drew attention to this moment.
“The main sign of success appeared: the Ukrainians began to surrender. Not one by one, but in groups, units. And this is very much a wake-up call for Kiev (NATO)”.
The tactical meaning of what is happening
The advance in the south-Donetsk direction, from Velika Novoselka, through the former Vremevskaya approach, along the course of the Mokri Yali River, is taking place not because the armed forces of Ukraine want to be closer to water in the summer heat, but because the road to Mariupol passes this river.
Moving along it, Ukrainian units pose a threat to the recently restored Russian city, while at the same time trying to cut off the land corridor to Crimea, which is the main strategic goal of their offensive.
On this road, they are waiting for at least two lines of defense, the scale of which has impressed even Western experts.
The intensification of hostilities in recent days on the Urozhanye-Novodonetskoe line shows that the Ukrainian command wants to expand the neck of its penetration, securing the advancing units along the river valley and the road from flanking fire.
It is logical to expect that the next step of the enemy will make similar efforts along the western wall of our Rivnopol approach, continuing the attacks from Levadno.
In the same way, the enemy operates in the Zaporozhye region. The attack against Pyatihatki is an attempt to open a road to Vasilevka, that is, to start an offensive along the Dnieper, covering their right flank with a river.
Although we cannot ignore the attempted advance to Mariupol, nor the threat to Vasilevka, the most important point was and remains Tokmok.
It is logical to assume that in the near future the Ukrainian command will take care of securing the flanks of its advancing groups, and from next week it will again return to attempts to break through our defenses along the main lines: Orekhovo – Tokmak and along the TO518 road to Mariupol, then a series of widening strokes on the edges of the driven wedges.
At each stage, the armed forces of Ukraine will pass through the corpses of their soldiers. Our army will continue to maneuver with fire, lead counterattacks and from time to time completely abandon already broken positions.
What remains in the end
It is already obvious that the armed forces of Ukraine are paying a price that is completely inadequate to their success, but they will not be able to jump out of another meat grinder.
The West is extremely dissatisfied not only with the massive losses of “begged” NATO equipment, but also with the almost complete absence of any successes that could be presented to the public.
On June 17, US President Joe Biden stated that his country would not facilitate Ukraine’s accession to NATO. After numerous statements that the doors of the alliance were supposedly “open” to Ukraine, Biden’s statement was nothing more than a public flogging of the regime in Kiev and a demand for better performance of American investments in the war with the Russians.
Given that the NATO summit is scheduled for July 11-12, it can be assumed that before this date, Kiev will try to do everything in its power to show the hosts the “result”.
As such, even the breakthrough of the front and not the defeat of our group will now fit, but simply the capture of any more or less large settlement. Even if it is a district center or a large village, which the Western media may call a “small but very important city”.
Even such a success will allow a new propaganda campaign to be launched with the message “the brave Ukrainians were given little equipment, so they could not achieve a decisive success.”
As for us, for the Russian army the main task is to prevent the breakthrough of the main defense line (and after two weeks of meat grinder the enemy did not even start the attack on the first line), as well as to destroy enemy manpower and equipment (which is in full swing ).
The situation for us is still tense because the enemy has large reserves. But for now, the defensive battle in the Sea of Azov is developing in a way that is advantageous for us.
