A tragic accident has taken place in a British children’s hospital. A nurse at Birmingham Children’s Hospital is accused of poisoning a baby, reports The Sun.
A nurse working at a children’s hospital was detained shortly after the tragic event of the baby’s death.
Police reportedly detained a 27-year-old nurse at the Children’s Hospital on suspicion of injecting a poison into the child’s body in order to endanger his life.
“We have arrested a 27-year-old woman in connection with the death of an infant,” police said on May 19. The woman was arrested shortly after the infant lost her life in the intensive care unit.
“The woman was arrested on Thursday night [..]on suspicion of intentional administration of a poison to the body with the intention of endangering the life of an infant. “
A hospital employee was detained for a short time. He has now been released by the police and an investigation is ongoing.
Shortly after his arrest, the hospital decided to dismiss the alleged worker.
Representatives of the hospital promise to consider other cases related to the particular former employee. “There is no doubt that the hospital will deal with previous cases in which she has been involved. That is appalling.”
No further circumstances are known at this time.
Birmingham Children’s Hospital is one of the UK’s leading specialist pediatric centers. It cares for children and young people up to the age of 16. Approximately 90,000 patients are treated at the hospital each year.
