The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series is the sharpest in the model family and also clearly the fastest. He proves it on the German circuit Nürburgringbecause he became his new king among production cars when he defeated the fastest Lamborghini Aventador SVJ yet.
This car proves again that it is very capable, because it is not so different from the GT3 category racer. We dealt with its detailed description in this article, in which we also dealt with the fact that by 5 seconds it exceeded the time of AMG GT R on the Hockenheimring. So now we just recall what is hidden under its front hood.
The top version of the Mercedes-AMG GT with the designation Black Series is powered by a V8 4.0 engine with double supercharging, which is also the case with all other versions, but in this case it received a number of hardware and software improvements. The resulting power, which travels through the DCT seven-speed transmission to the rear wheels, is 537 kW / 730 hp and the maximum torque peaks at 800 Nm. This allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in just 3.2 seconds, on a two-wheeler in less than 9 seconds and can continue accelerating up to 325 km / h.
Of course, the chassis, brakes, but also the aerodynamics, which is active – have also been completely redesigned – for example, the rear pressure wing consists of several parts, while its upper part extends according to speed and braking.
But let’s get to that more interesting message, which is that the racing driver of the GT3 series Maro Engel set really impressive times with him on the North Loop of the Nürburgring. For the track with a length of 20.6 km (without the T13 straight line) it was 6: 43,616 minutes and he managed the whole lap (20,832 km) in 6: 48,047 minutes. You can see what it looked like in the introductory video.
And these are the numbers that make it the fastest production sports car in the world. He removed the current king, Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, from the throne. It held the record with a time of 6: 44.97 (excluding sector T13).
Pilot Maro Engel commented on his ride with the words: “It’s unbelievable how much pressure the Black Series generates, and how sovereignly and surely it manages to the absolute limit. I take my hat off from the Affalterbach developers for what they were able to put on their bikes. And I’m really grateful that I was able to demonstrate these skills at such a great time. “
By the way, the fastest time ever holds at the Nürburgring racing Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo, which drove him in 5: 19.546 minutes, and took only a few months older electric car record Volkswagen ID R (time: 6: 05,336 minutes).
