Caritas, 6 September 2022.- Monsignor Bernardito Auzaapostolic nuncio to Spain, yesterday Monday he made an unofficial visit in which he was able to touch the pastoral and charitable work of our diocese, as well as part of the religious artistic heritage.
Always accompanied by the diocesan bishop, the Nuncio of His Holiness in Spain first visited the Cathedral of Cadiz and then the seat of the Bishopric of Cadiz and Ceuta, where he visited the chapel of Nuestra Señora del Carmen and the various departments that make it up.
Subsequently, the nuncio of His Holiness and the diocesan bishop held a meeting with Jose Maria Espinar, Secretary General of the Diocesan Caritas of Cadiz. Espinar outlined the path of Cáritas in recent years, underlining the progress made, both in organization and in social action in favor of the most needy people and groups in the Diocese. After this meeting, the nuncio greeted the Cáritas technical team and spoke briefly with them.
Subsequently, the Apostolic Nuncio, Monsignor Zornozza and José María Espinar went to the headquarters, located in the Zona Franca of Cádiz, of Inserta Cadiz SL, an insertion society promoted by Cáritas Diocesana de Cádiz which aims to support people at risk or in situations of social exclusion through the collection of used clothing. There he had the opportunity to meet the project participants and the technical team that is part of it. Monsignor Auza showed great interest in knowing the reality of the people who work in this activity. After this visit, he moved to the clothing store Fashion Re-located in the El Pópulo neighborhood, where the treated garments are sold to the general public or donated to people in situations of social hardship.
With a visit to the warehouse and the shop, the nuncio confirmed how this project fits into the commitment to the circular economy and care for the environment that Cáritas has undertaken. For the diocesan Caritas of Cadiz it was a reason for joy to have received the visit of the apostolic nuncio of Pope francesco and receive your blessing for the entire Cáritas family in the diocese of Cadiz.
After a short lunch break at the San Bartolomé Seminary, Archbishop Auza continued to learn about the work that takes place in our diocese with the neediest people, concluding his visit to the parish of San José Artesano de San Fernando, where he presided over the ‘Eucharist.
