The telephone lines assigned to the finalist applications of the ‘7 Wonders of Popular Culture’ contest are known, which includes seven heritage sites across the 18 districts and two autonomous regions of the country.
In the case of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, candidates for the Wonders of Popular Culture are: Bailinho da Madeira, in the municipality of Calheta (under number 760 207 764); Madeira Embroidery (760 207 766) and Funchal Market Night (760 207 769), through the Madeiran capital; the Fachos, by the municipality of Machico (760 207 768); the Mass Dolls, by Santa Cruz (760 207 765); the Typical Houses of Santana (760 207 767) and the floral carpets (760 207 770) by the municipality of Santana.
It is important that each application has the largest number of phone calls, in order to distance itself from the others in the respective category.

About the contest
The theme of the 2020 edition of the Wonders of Portugal is Popular Culture, subdivided into the categories: handicrafts, legends and myths, parties and fairs, songs and dances, rituals and customs, processions and pilgrimages, and artifacts.
In this 9th edition, candidates will be voted at a stage where there will be seven candidates for each district and autonomous region.
In each program at RTP, a total of 20 programs to be carried out in the months of July and August, a pre-finalist will be selected to advance to the semifinals.
In the next phase there will be a repechage program, in which the 20 runners-up in the district / regional qualifiers will be submitted to a new vote, in order to choose the eight most voted assets.
These will join the other 20 pre-finalists already qualified.
The 28 pre-finalists will be divided by lot by the two semifinals and in each of them will be counted the seven candidates with the most votes counted.
In the final gala, which will take place on September 5th, the 7 Wonders of Popular Culture will be elected.
This contest, promoted by the INATEL foundation, has been held since 2007 and is considered a great opportunity to promote national culture.
