The number of victims of the Marapi eruption increases by one person

FAJAR.CO.ID, SUMBAR — Head of the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Division (Kabid) of the Riau Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Rozita, confirmed that the number of victims of the Marapi eruption from Riau increased by one person, namely Ilham Nanda Bintang (21), a faculty student law at the Islamic University of Riau (UIR).

Previously, three Riau residents had been identified who died as a result of the Marapi eruption on Sunday (3/12) at around 14.54 WIB.

Ilham Nanda Bintang’s body, after being washed, was immediately taken to Pekanbaru from West Sumatra, said Rozita in a statement from West Sumatra on Wednesday.

Ilham is a Riau resident who was the last victim of the eruption of Mount Marapi in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra, bringing the number of Riau residents who died to four out of a total of 29 people who climbed Mount Marapi.

Rozita said that there were still three climbers from Riau who were being treated intensively at Dr Achmad Mochtar Regional Hospital and Padang Regional Hospital.

“In this way, all 29 climbers from Riau have been found. From that number, there are 22 people who returned home safely, 3 were treated and recuperated and 4 people died,” added Rozita.

Apart from Ilham, two other UIR students also died on Mount Marapi, namely Muhammad Adan (21) from the law faculty, and Nazatra Adzin Mufadhal (22) from the Teacher Training and Education faculty.

“Three people are still being treated, namely M Ridho Kurniawan, a catering worker and M Arbi Muharman (22), a student at Unri (University of Riau) and Aditya Sukirno Putra (21), a student at UIR Pekanbaru,” said Rozita.
