The number of Turkish military killed in Idlib has risen to 29 – International panorama

ANKARA, February 28. / TASS /. The death toll of the Turkish military in the Syrian province of Idlib has increased to 29 people. This was announced on Friday by the governor of the border province Hatay Rahmi Dogan.

“In Idlib, 29 of our soldiers died, 36 soldiers were injured. They continue to receive medical assistance,” he said on the air of the TV channel NTV.

Previously reported 22 dead.

In early February, the situation in Idlib sharply worsened. This happened after the Russian and Turkish military made another attempt to introduce a regime of silence, but the terrorists only intensified their attacks. Last week, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced Ankara’s readiness to use all his military power in the event of an operation in Idlib. He also said that the start of a new military campaign in Idlib is “only a matter of time”, all preparations for it have already been completed.

Idlib is the only region in Syria, a significant part of which remains in the hands of illegal armed groups. In 2017, a northern de-escalation zone was created there, where militants who refused to lay down arms in the damask suburb of East Guta and the southern regions of the country moved.
