London recalls that in mid-December Russian forces and “Wagner” increased the frequency of their infantry attacks in the vicinity of the city of Bakhmut, Donetsk region. However, many of these occupier operations were poorly supported.
Both sides suffered heavy losses, the British ministry reports.
Russian offensive operations in the area are now likely to be conducted only at the platoon or division level. Russia is unlikely to make a significant breakthrough in the vicinity of Bakhmut in the coming weeks, British intelligence officials conclude.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine began in the early morning of February 24 with rocket attacks, airstrikes and the arrival of ground forces. Russia has initially cited the “denazification” of Ukraine as one of the goals of the invasion.
