The number of people infected with Covid-19 is still increasing in two places in Latvia

Last day, 173 new infections were registered in the capital and the total cumulative number of cases in the capital for 14 days is currently 1545 people. In turn, 45 new cases have been registered in Daugavpils and the total number of those infected in the last two weeks has reached 277 people.

Meanwhile, 15 new infections have been registered in Kraslava region, where the total cumulative number of cases in 14 days has reached 56 people. In Liepāja, on the other hand, 14 new patients have been registered, where a total of 86 people have become ill in the last two weeks.

Seven new cases of Covid-19 have been registered in Jūrmala, and the total cumulative number of cases in 14 days has reached 68 people. Six new patients were found in Babīte municipality, where a total of 23 people have become ill in the last two weeks. Five more new infections were registered in Ventspils and Riebiņi region. The total number of illnesses in 14 days in Ventspils is ten, but in Riebiņi region – nine people.

Four new cases were registered – in Ādaži, Balvi, Bauska, Garkalne, Ķekava and Stopiņa counties, three – in Kuldīga, Limbaži, Ogre, Ropaži, Salaspils and Talsi counties. A smaller number of infected people are still registered in a number of municipalities.

Covid-19 has returned to Priekule region, where all the patients had previously recovered.

In the last two weeks, no new patients have been registered in Cesvaine region.

The largest total number of patients in the last two weeks is in Riga – 1545, in Daugavpils – 277, as well as in Liepāja – 86 inhabitants.

Of those last day, those most infected are in the age group of 40 to 49, with a total of 74 people, followed by the age group of 70 and over, with 70 seniors in Covid-19, and 53 in the 50 to 59 age group. Other age groups have fewer cases.

It has already been reported that 367 cases of Covid-19 were detected in Latvia last day, which is the largest number of cases diagnosed in one day so far, according to the data compiled by the SPKC.

The largest number of Covid-19 tests performed so far last day – 7564, and in 4.85% of cases they were positive. The SPCC has previously explained that this figure is considered important in the European Union, as above 4%, the spread of the disease is considered to be rapid and uncontrolled.

Three Covid-19 patients who had been confirmed to be infected with Covid-19 died last day. Two of the deceased patients were in the age group of 70 to 75 years and another in the age group of 90 to 95 years. To date, 88 deaths have been reported in patients with confirmed infection with Covid-19.
