The police headquarters in Freiburg presented the traffic accident record for the region. While the number of accidents is declining in all areas, they are increasing in one type of transport.
The number of traffic accidents in the districts of Emmendingen and Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald continued to fall in 2021, in the urban district of Freiburg there was a minimal increase of 0.2 percent compared to the previous year. The number of traffic fatalities has also fallen in all three districts compared to 2020. The boom in bicycles with electric motors, on the other hand, is causing a noticeable increase in the number of accidents involving pedelec riders, as shown by the statistics presented by the police headquarters on Tuesday.
Of course, every person who dies on the road is one too many. But at least the number of fatalities in 2021 has reduced in the three regions: in Freiburg from three to one, in the Emmendingen district from ten to five and in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district from nine to seven.
