In France, the indicators remain stable, while the British health authorities warn about the transmissibility of the Delta variant (new name of the Indian variant).
- Stabilization of the number of hospitalized patients
The number of patients in hospital and in intensive care units has remained stable over the past 24 hours, according to data released Sunday by Public Health France. In total, 14,525 Covid-19 patients are currently hospitalized against 14,532 the day before, and 16,775 a week earlier, specifies the health agency. In 24 hours, 154 new patients were admitted to hospitals in France.
The “critical care” services welcomed 52 new patients in 24 hours, bringing the total number of Covid patients in real life to 2,527 patients. They were 2525 the day before. In the last 24 hours, 25 patients have died in hospital bringing the total death toll to at least 110,027 since the start of the epidemic in March 2020. The number of contaminations stands at 5,070 confirmed cases in 24 hours against 6,654 the Eve.

- The more transmissible Delta variant
The Delta variant, which threatens the lifting of the latest restrictions in the UK, is transmitted 40% more than the previously dominant Alpha variant in the UK, UK Health Minister Matt Hancock said on Sunday.
