The number of migrants detained inside the country has tripled – 2024-09-28 03:04:34

/ world today news/ 1254 migrants were detained inside the country by the authorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in July. This is stated in a report of the “Coordination and Administrative Service” Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which BGNES has at its disposal.

During the months of May and June, the detained migrants in the country were respectively 431 and 482. The increased number of detained persons is due to the increased flow of migrants during the summer months, but also due to the actions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs against illegal migration.

The migration pressure on the Bulgarian-Serbian border is far greater than that on the Bulgarian-Turkish border, the report of the Ministry of the Interior also shows. It turns out that in July alone, 1,257 migrants were detained while trying to cross from Bulgarian territory to Serbia. For the period from the beginning of 2015 to July 2016, a total of 5,246 persons were detained at the Bulgarian-Serbian border. For the same period, 2,682 persons were found on the Bulgarian-Turkish border.

From the data of the Ministry of the Interior, it is clear that more than 9,000 illegal migrants have passed through the territory of the country since the beginning of 2016, and they were found to be at a different stage of their trafficking. For all of 2015, that number was almost 34,000.

Until July of this year inclusive, the authorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have identified 191 persons who trafficked migrants. For 2015, this number was 573.

The Migration Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs deported 379 persons from the country in the period January-July 2016, 159 of them were forcibly deported. Last year, 797 persons were deported from Bulgaria, of which 556 persons were forcibly deported.
