The Directorate of Financial Studies and Forecasts reported that the total stock of telephone services increased by 3.3 percent in 2022, after an increase of 4 percent in the previous year.
The Directorate stated, in its circumstantial note for the month of March 2023, that “the telecommunications sector indicators at the end of the year 2022 recorded a positive development in general. Thus, the total stock of telephone services increased by 3.3 percent, after an increase of 4 percent recorded a year earlier.
The same source indicated that this growth includes an improvement in the mobile phone fold by 3.2 percent (after plus 3.9 percent), as the number of subscribers reached nearly 53 million subscribers.
The directorate added that the fixed-line telephone fold increased by 5.3 percent (after plus 6.5 percent), reaching more than 2.6 million subscribers.
As for the Internet service barn, its growth rate stabilized at 8.3 percent at the end of 2022, after an increase of 10.2 percent a year earlier. Thus, the size of this fold will reach approximately 35.6 million subscribers at the end of 2022.
Compared to the pre-crisis level, the Internet service fold, which only reached 25.4 million subscribers at the end of 2019, increased by 40.1 percent in 2022, i.e. an increase of 10.2 million subscribers.
