The number of inpatient Covid-19 patients is rapidly approaching the mark of 1,400
Riga, October 24, LETA. 131 Covid-19 patients were admitted to medical institutions last day, but 26 of them were discharged, thus the total number of Covid-19 patients hospitalized increased from 1277 to 1352 patients, according to the information of the National Health Service.
This is the largest total number of inpatients to date. Previously, the largest total number of inpatient Covid-19 patients in Latvia was announced on October 23, when 1277 patients were treated in hospitals. The number of hospitalizations this autumn has already exceeded the maximum number of hospitalizations for the Covid-19 wave experienced in the winter, which was 1,224 people on January 13.
Of the Covid-19 patients in hospitals, 1,200 have a moderate course of disease and 152 have a severe course of the disease. Thus, 11.2% of inpatients currently have a severe course of the disease.
To date, a total of 16,898 Covid-19 patients have been discharged from hospitals.
