The housing stock in the Burgas region consists of 109.0 thousand residential buildings, their number increased by 447. There are 52.4 thousand residential buildings in the cities, and 56.6 thousand in the villages.

Residential buildings in the district represent 5.3% of the total housing stock in the country.

According to the distribution of residential buildings by construction, brick buildings with a concrete slab predominate – 61.4 thousand or 56.3% of all residential buildings, followed by brick buildings with a beam – 37.0 thousand or 33.9%. Reinforced concrete residential buildings in the district are 5.1%, and panel buildings – 0.7%.

In cities, brick buildings with a concrete slab predominate – 68.7%, and in villages, brick buildings with beams – 46.5%.

In the Burgas district, one-story residential buildings predominate – 53.9 thousand or 49.4% of all buildings in the district. Two-story buildings are 38.1 thousand (35.0%), three-story buildings are 7.7%, and residential buildings with four or more floors – 7.9%.

The highest relative share of residential buildings built in the period 1946 – 1960 is 19.5%, and the lowest is those built before 1918 and from the beginning of 2021 – 0.8% each.

The number of dwellings in the Burgas region is 331.8 thousand. There are 253.3 thousand dwellings in the cities or 76.3% of the total number.

The provision of housing in the Burgas district per 1,000 people in 2023 is 863, while in the cities it is 862, and in the villages – 866. In the previous year, the value of the indicator for the district was 866 dwellings, respectively 868 in the cities and 859 – in the villages.

At the end of 2023, in the Burgas region, 128.0 thousand dwellings are two-room, followed by three-room – 105.5 thousand, and those with four or more rooms reach 65.9 thousand.

In the cities of the district, 41.8% of the dwellings are two-room, 31.0% are three-room, 16.7% have four or more rooms and 10.5% are one-room. In the villages, 34.4% of the dwellings are three-room, followed by two-room – 28.2%, with four or more rooms – 30.1% and one-room – 7.3%.

The average number of persons in one dwelling in the Burgas region is 1.2, both in cities and in villages.

The total useful area of ​​dwellings in the district is 25,244.7 thousand square meters, with the share of useful area of ​​dwellings in cities being 76.7% of the total useful area of ​​all dwellings. The average usable area of ​​a dwelling in the district is 76.1 square meters, while in the cities it is 76.4 square meters, in the villages – 75.0 square meters.

The average living area per person in the Burgas region is 52.9 square meters, for cities it is 53.0 square meters, and for villages 52.6 square meters.

The main features characterizing the improvement of housing are electrification, water supply, sewerage, and a built-in installation for central or local heating (steam or gas).

Of all 331.8 thousand dwellings in the Burgas region, 76.1% are electrified, with water supply and sewage. Electrified homes with only water supply are 14.4%, electrified with water supply, sewerage and with central or local heating are 5.5%, and electrified only – 3.1%.
