MOSCOW, July 16. / TASS /. Police detained 132 people in an unauthorized rally in central Moscow. This was reported to reporters on Thursday in the press service of the capital’s Interior Ministry.
“132 people were brought to the territorial police departments for the investigation. The issue of bringing to responsibility established by law is being addressed with respect to them,” the head office said.
The police noted that the Moscow government refused to hold the organizers of the event on the basis of a decree of the mayor of the capital of March 5. “Despite this, a group of activists organized an unauthorized event, during which a procession was organized along Strastnoy Boulevard with the subsequent blocking of the carriageway in the area of Petrovsky Boulevard No. 8 and the creation of traffic obstruction. Police officers together with Rosguard officers disturbed public order in the center of Moscow was suppressed, ”added the head office.
According to TASS, Executive Secretary of the Public Monitoring Commission (PMC) Alexey Melnikov, among the detainees is Marina Litvinovich, member of the PMC Commission.
According to a TASS correspondent, the rally ended; only representatives of the media remain in the Petrovka area.
Initially, the protesters gathered on Pushkin Square, where they walked near the monument to Pushkin, the police watched them from the side. Then 200 people went towards Trubnaya. Despite the police warning that the action was illegal, they staged a procession and tried to block traffic.
