The Number of Dengue Fever Patients at the Madiun City Hospital Increases

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MADIUN – The number of dengue fever (DB) patients being treated at the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) of Madiun City, East Java during the rainy season from the end of 2021 to the beginning of 2022 was recorded to increase and was dominated by children.

Data Madiun City Hospital noted, in November 2021 there were five pediatric DB patients, in December 19 patients, while from January to mid, there were currently 15 patients. “Of the 15 patients, a number of them have been declared cured and allowed to go home, while others are still undergoing treatment,” said a pediatrician at the Madiun City Hospital Dwi Indah Cahyani in Madiun, Thursday (13/1/2022).

According to him, entering the rainy season there is an increasing trend of dengue fever cases. Not only in Madiun, but also nationally.

Despite the increase, his party appreciates the high awareness of the community, especially parents, to immediately check their children to health facilities. “So when it comes here it’s usually between dengue fever degree 1 or 2. On average the arrival is never late. If you have a fever, you don’t have a cold, you don’t have diarrhea, you don’t want to eat or you have a fever and you just feel dizzy, then you are suspicious of DB and ask to be tested,” said Cahyani.

When exposed to dengue fever, when the patient’s fever can be given fever-lowering drugs. In addition, also get enough rest to increase immunity, it is recommended to eat and drink a lot and be nutritious so as not to be dehydrated.

Head of the Madiun City Health, Population Control and Family Planning (Dinkes-PPKB) Denik Wuryani urged the public to increase awareness of dengue fever, which is always accompanied by high rainfall like today.

His party asked the people of Madiun City to keep the environment clean and be diligent in eradicating mosquito nests (PSN). “We must remain vigilant as the rainfall is high. Do not neglect to keep the environment clean and places that might become breeding grounds for mosquitoes, such as bathrooms and drinking water places and so on,” said Denik.
