The number of dengue cases in Pariaman has reached 170 people

Pariaman (ANTARA) – The health bureau of Pariaman (Dinkes) city, West Sumatra, noted that the number of residents infected with dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in the area this year has reached 170 cases, three of which died.

“The cases are over 170 cases, this is much higher than last year,” Pariaman city health bureau chief Nazifah said in Pariaman on Thursday.

He said the DHF cases were spread across all the subdistricts of the area, but most were found in central and southern Pariaman because they are densely populated areas.

He said his party had so far been promoting Mutual Assistance in Eradication of Mosquito Nests (PSN) in Pariaman while spraying was the latest effort.

“We will prioritize the PSN first, so that there are no mosquito nests,” he said.

He appealed to area residents to minimize nesting sites for mosquitoes, starting with piled up or hanging laundry, regularly emptying bathtubs and other places that may collect water.

In October 2022 the number of DHF cases in Pariaman was 140 but now it has reached 170 cases as compared to last year there were only 59 cases. According to Nazifah, the increase has occurred due to climate change, so much so that many mosquito breeding grounds have emerged.

Earlier, the government of Pariaman City, West Sumatra promoted mosquito nest eradication (PSN) actions in the area to anticipate an increase in dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) cases which this year reached 140 cases and two people even died.

“We can no longer allow this extraordinary incident, even though we previously anticipated that it would occur in Pariaman with DHF, but (looking at the development of the case) we must continue the PSN 3M Plus action,” said Yotta, regional secretary by Pariaman. Balad during a coordination meeting for DHF outbreak management in Pariaman City.

He said that this time Pariaman city government will carry out a massive 3M Plus PSN action involving all levels of society in the area starting from agencies and institutions including schools to carry out the action on Friday (7/10) , while the government agencies of the village, dasawisma, to the residents carried out the action on Sunday (9/10).
