The number of damage reports following the Wirdum earthquake has more than doubled

The number of damage reports following the Wirdum earthquake in Groningen has increased significantly. Yesterday it was 191, today at 5 pm the counter was 419, reports the Groningen Mining Damage Institute.

Eleven reports concerned a possible acute danger. Ten reports have now been evaluated and second RTV North no additional measures were needed.

Of the 419 people who reported damages, 93 opted for liquidation through fixed compensation of 5,000 euros. The other 326 journalists have the damage assessed by an expert. Most of the damage was reported in Appingedam, followed by the cities of Groningen and Delfzijl.

Secretary of State Vijlbrief of Mining will come to Groningen tomorrow to speak with administrators and people with damages.

The quake occurred around 4:15 am on Saturday morning and had a magnitude of 3.1. According to the KNMI, it was one of the ten strongest earthquakes ever measured in the province of Groningen.
