The total number of confirmed infections so far exceeded half a million on Thursday. Since the outbreak began, more than 503,000 people in the Netherlands have been tested positive.
Regional figures
224 infections came to light in Amsterdam last 24 hours. In Rotterdam, 196 residents tested positive and in The Hague 116. Furthermore, 102 people from the municipality of Utrecht and 77 people from Almere were found to have the corona virus.
Just over 36,000 people tested positive in the past seven days, almost the same as the week before. The RIVM had already said on Tuesday that the decline in the number of cases is stagnating.
Deaths
The number of deaths rose by 76 on Thursday. That does not mean that all those people died last 24 hours. On Wednesday, the RIVM reported 74 deaths from the virus. It has now been established that nearly 9,200 Dutch people have died of the virus.
Hospitals
The number of corona patients in Dutch hospitals has fallen again. In total, the hospitals now treat 1,781 corona patients. That is 58 fewer than Wednesday, reports the National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution (LCPS).
There are now 524 corona patients in intensive care units, a decrease of 5 compared to Wednesday. Most people with Covid-19 are in a nursing ward, a total of 1257 patients. That is 53 fewer than Wednesday.
In the past 24 hours, 10 patients have been moved between regions, 4 of whom are on the IC. Hospitals in the major cities in the Randstad are still busiest with the treatment of corona patients. The burden on healthcare is also still high in Brabant, Central Netherlands and Twente.
