The number of cases of dengue fever decreases in Reunion, but beware of mosquitoes in La Toussaint

Four new cases of dengue were reported from 3 to 16 October in Reunion. The number is decreasing but the virus continues to circulate on the island. With the feast of All Saints, vigilance in cemeteries is recommended.

Replacing the water in the vases with moist sand and removing the cups under the potted flowers are the right things to do when going to flower tombs on All Saints’ Day. Stagnant water is in fact conducive to the development of mosquito larvae.

Before the rainy season arrives, it is important to limit the proliferation of mosquitoes as much as possible.

The number of cases is currently low on the island, but the virus continues to circulate. From 3 to 16 October, 4 cases of dengue fever were recorded, compared to 19 in the previous fortnight.

The reported cases are distributed in the municipalities of Saint-Leu, Saint-Louis and Le Tampon. 1,178 cases have been confirmed in Reunion since the beginning of the year. Two deaths are directly related to dengue fever.
