On Monday, May 2, the French Blood Establishment and the Port-Louis Country Blood Donation Association organized a collection at the Pré-Carré, in Kervignac. Of the 65 slots available during the morning, only 28 were used. “The system for making appointments put in place to be able to donate blood has existed for two years now”, is surprised the volunteers without understanding the weak mobilization of the day.
“An SMS, an attack and people give, otherwise no…”
Without answering the question, Doctor Xavier Panier, responsible for the collection, offers an explanation: “we are seeing a profound change in culture. At one time, especially in rural areas, we gave our blood as we went to vote. It was natural. Now, we react on communication; an SMS, an attack and people give, otherwise no… But we need blood all year round and regularly. The requests are many. We are too into events. We should put a little more sacred in the blood.
