“For example, at SABIF the number of requests registered an increase of 36-38% on Friday, September 30. If normally, in 24 hours, on average, between 1,000 and 1,200 requests are registered, in the last 24 hours they have over 1,600 requests were registered.
In order to cope with the number of requests, an additional 8 crews of type B and C worked at the Ambulance Service on Friday, and on Friday night towards Saturday an additional 16 crews of type B and C worked. Two crews were brought from Arges and one from Prahova “, it is specified in the quoted communiqué.
The SMURD crews were also supplemented, with teams of doctors brought from Teleorman.
“These measures will be maintained for as long as necessary so that the emergency medical care provided to the population does not suffer,” said the spokesman of the Ministry of Health, Viorel Popescu.

In a telephone interview at Digi24, Cristian Grasu, coordinating doctor at SABIF, He stressed that “yesterday (Friday, ed.) all day and still tonight, the number of requests has increased permanently,” with 1,686 requests, of which over 700 are yellow and red.
Asked what the reasons were, the doctor replied: “I did not understand why this sudden increase happened, it was probably a feeling of insecurity of the population.”
Although he did not mention it, the doctor most likely referred to the extensive debates related to the investigations opened at the Ambulance after the death of the actor and singer Ioan Gyuri Pascu.
Cristian Grasu also revealed that an exemplary mobilization took place to respond to the large number of requests – doctors were called from home, others stayed overtime, and 38 volunteers joined these efforts.
“Many remained today. Doctors came from Arges and Prahova,” he added.
On the other hand, Cristian Grasu stated that there were cases in which “the severity of the feelings described did not correspond to what I found in the field“.

Asked what message he wants to send to potential patients, Cristian Grasu said that they must trust that all SABIF employees “come to work with the idea of being helpful, of doing their duty”.
“If mistakes happen, they are human and very rare. We ask them to describe accurately and sincerely the symptoms they have, this is the only way they can receive the most appropriate help “, said doctor Cristian Grasu.
