Maintaining an electronic music festival – in essence a space of celebration and freedom where bodies intertwine – in the midst of an era of health restrictions, you had to show a certain guts and a good dose of optimism to do so. believe. Fortunately, the Arty Farty team did not give up to offer Lyon Nuits Sonores a bit special.
Staggered dates, adapted gauge, shorter hours, health pass required… This special edition, moved from the Ascension Bridge in mid-summer, will not look like what the festival has been able to offer until now. However, the programming adapted to the health context is well worth the detour, especially since we know that we can stand and dance without social distancing, but still masked.
Still housed in the former Fagor-Brandt factories, the festival will be held from 6 p.m. to midnight in two halls, one of which will offer an immersive show with live performances associated with video creations projected on 360 ° screens. It will even be possible to lie down to enjoy the experience.
Pope of pop
In terms of line-up, the five evenings all have sacred arguments, from Jeff Mills to Pantha du Prince through High Tone, Lala & this or Tryphème. But if we had to choose only one, we would undoubtedly set our sights on the 3e, that of Thursday, July 22, with among others, the revisited Italian disco of Il Quadro di Troisi and the pope of pop “à la française” Sébastien Tellier. Imagine following a ritornello under these conditions… Love is meant to be shared, says the song; will his be with us? Basically it doesn’t matter if he plays his masterpiece or not. The songs from his true-false double album Domesticated / Simple Mind (both released in 2020) seem cut out for this configuration. It’s decided, our Nuits Sonores 2021 will be pop.
