The festival organized at the Ancient Theater of Fourvière will take place this year from May 27 to July 31. Management is still working on programming.
Canceled in 2020 due to the health crisis, the Nuits de Fourvière festival will take place in 2021. In a message published Monday on social networks, the management officially announced the dates of this new edition, which will be an opportunity to celebrate 75 years of the festival.
A suitable festival
This year, the Nuits de Fourvière will therefore be held from May 27 to July 31. “The measures announced by the Minister of Culture (…) allow us to provide a framework for working on a program and inventing the next Nights”, rejoices the management in its message.
“We are working on adapting the festival to the health context, in order to welcome artists on stage and meet the public in Roman theaters”, continues the festival.
Guest of BFM Lyon last February, the day after the announcements of the Minister of Culture, Nathalie Perrin-Gilbert, deputy mayor, had already indicated that no festival would be canceled this year. “This festival authorization for 5,000 seated spectators is good news for the Nuits de Fourvière,” she said.
Thom Yorke absent
If the 2021 schedule has not yet been unveiled, the Nuits de Fourvière have already announced the cancellation of Thom Yorke’s concert.
The singer of the group Radiohead, initially scheduled for 2020, was to perform solo on July 7, 2021 on the stage of the Ancient Theater. But due to the health crisis, he canceled his European tour.
