The star of the movie “The Notebook”, the famous American actress Gena Rowlands died
Sad news publication TMZ confirmed the artist’s son, director Nick Cassavetes. The celebrity died on Wednesday, August 14, at her home in Indian Wells, California. In the last minutes of her life, her family – her children and her husband – were next to the actress.
Gena Rowlands has died at the age of 94. The official cause of death has not yet been announced. However, it is known that the actress suffers from severe Alzheimer’s disease, which disrupts brain processes, causing memory loss and progressive dementia.

Her son Nick spoke about the illness of the actress in June this year. On the 20th anniversary of The Notebook, the director admitted that his mother had been battling Alzheimer’s disease for five years and was “absolutely devastated”. Symbolically, in the film, Gena Rowlands played an old woman, Ellie, who also suffered from this disease.
Anyway, in her work the actress has many roles in different films. Since 2015, she left Hollywood and stopped acting in movies. The artist has received many awards for her work, including an Emmy, a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination.

The actress left three children – son Nick and daughters Alexandra and Zoe. She also had a husband, Robert, whom she married in 2012.
