The Norwegians, in co-production with Lithuania under the direction of director Cecilia Mosli, used the main attributes that Vorlíček’s famous fairy tale abounds in and for which it is so popular, ie beautiful winter nature or music, but the scenery is richer and more telling.

Libuše Šafránková was replaced as Cinderella in the Norwegian version by the local pop singer Astrid Smeplass, and alongside her will be other well-known Norwegian actors, such as Cengiz Al as Prince and in other roles Thorbjørn Harr (Two Lives, Reprise) or Nils Jørgen Kaalstad (Headhunters, Sons ).

According to the trailer, it is clear that the creators were more than inspired by Vorlíček’s film. Cinderella is chasing the winter landscape on a white horse similar to Jurášek, her owl mentor seems to have fallen out of Rozárka’s eye, crossbow shooting, an obese preceptor, a magnificent ball at the chateau and a sleigh ride. While Vorlíček’s version was filmed in co-production with the Germans at the Saxon castle of Moritzburg, the Norwegians filmed theirs here at the Maihaugen open-air museum near Lillehammer.
