A private event does not mean that the wedding atmosphere is kept hidden from the world.

According to VG, the involvement of the media is the reason why the king’s daughter’s wedding is a private, not a public, event. Neither the Norwegian Broadcasting Company nor the photo agency NTB have anything to do with the wedding, unlike traditionally similar events.

VG also emphasizes that the media is only interested in the wedding because of Märtha Louise’s royal title. The title should not be used in commercial contexts.

According to Svensk Damtidning, in addition to Harald, Sonja, Haakon and Mette-Marit have announced that they do not want Netflix and Hello to film them.

VG has organized a survey on its website to ask readers’ opinions on the matter. 85 percent of the 150,000 respondents are of the opinion that selling wedding photos to a foreign celebrity magazine is not acceptable.

The paper also refers to a survey organized by Dagbladet. 54.4 percent of the respondents are of the opinion that Märtha Louise should give up the title of princess. The background is, among other things, Durek’s family disputes and the couple’s commercial connections.
