Miqati’s media office denies this news
The media office of Prime Minister Najib Mikati issued the following statement:
We deny what was stated by journalist Johnny Mounir in a televised interview that “Presidents Nabih Berri and Najib Mikati understood and agreed to appoint a respected person to the governorship of the Banque du Liban.”
The clear position of Prime Minister Mikati is that any appointment in this sensitive position will only be made at the cabinet table, and after consultation with the concerned leaders in advance. It required clarification.”
