The Norrland derby between Skellefteå and Luleå got rowdy.
Something that did not escape the disciplinary committee.
Now both Brendan Shinnimin and Arvid Lundberg are suspended.
For Shinnimin’s part, it is about a situation when the LHF player was not even on the ice.
Isac Hedqvist sent Linus Lindström into the box right at Luleå’s box.
Inside was Brendan Shinnimin, who took the chance to push with the club against Lindström’s neck.
“Not pretty”
– It’s not nice of Shinnimin. It is in no way pretty, at all, said Niklas Wikegård about the measure.
The Canadian is suspended for “Dangerous actions”.
For Arvid Lundberg, it’s about a cross-checking – which the Saik player handed out to Brendan Shinnimin’s head.
The suspensions apply for one week, up to and including January 6. In both cases, the decisions are justified by the fact that “the action is disrespectful and entails a great risk of injury”.
As a result, Shinnimin misses two matches – Lundberg misses three and is fined SEK 15,625.
Wanted to provoke
There was a heated atmosphere during the match. In his defense speech, Shinnimin says partly that the move was not made with any special force, and partly that Lindström himself was looking for a fight.
“He is fully focused on finding himself an opponent to annoy and provoke”it says.
Skellefteå won the match 5–2.
Next up is an away trip to Malmö, while Luleå hosts Modo.
