the Nord and Pas-de-Calais remain on orange vigilance

The prefecture advises them to limit travel and protect property that could be washed away or damaged in the event of a flood.

The Nord and Pas-de-Calais remain on high orange vigilance until tomorrow, Friday February 5, 6 a.m. Two rivers are concerned: the Canche in Montreuillois and the Helpe minor in Pas-de-Calais.

It is because of Wednesday’s precipitation and soil saturation that these rivers have faced a flood. However, in these two sectors, the trend was to decline.

Finally, the level of these two rivers remained still high.

La Canche and Helpe Minor concerned

Following the precipitation observed on Tuesday and Wednesday, the levels started to rise again on Helpe Minor. An average flood is in progress and the risk of a significant one persists.

“The recession begins upstream and will spread downstream to the Maroilles station where the reaction could be moderate to significant due to the current high level, can we read on the website of Vigicrues. New overflows will be feared in this basin.”

On the Canche side, following the rains on Wednesday, the levels started to rise again on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, after a slow decline in recent days. This trend should continue this Thursday afternoon February 4 and until tomorrow. A major flood is in progress.

The residents of the Canche and Helpe mineure are therefore called on to be cautious by the authorities. The prefecture advises them to limit their movements and protect property that could be washed away or damaged in the event of a flood.
