The “Noor” project for the production of electricity sees the light in the city of El-Ayoun – Zagora Press – Zagora Press

After the “Noor” farm in Ouarzazate for the production of electricity using solar energy, the successful experiment was transferred to Laayoune, the largest city in the Moroccan desert, as the “Noor El-Ayoun 1” station began operating, and it is among the huge projects witnessed in the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region, since September 2018. With a financial envelope of 950 million dirhams, to reach an estimated production level of 190 gigawatts of clean, environmentally friendly energy, as a contribution to reducing toxic carbon emissions.

The “Nour El Oyoun Station 1” project contains more than 260,000 panels, each with a capacity of 320 watts, and is characterized by a robotic system that allows it to track the sun’s rays during sunrise, sunset, and between them. The station, which has been connected to the national electricity network, is witnessing continuous maintenance and monitoring by specialized teams, to detect faults that are dealt with in a special control room, in order to avoid energy loss, in addition to the process of cleaning the panels that are located on an area of 240 hectares; It is an area equivalent to 340 soccer fields.

The establishment of a station in Laayoune was not by chance, given the infrastructure that the city and the region know in general, which is also characterized by its sun that does not set throughout the year, which will increase the attraction of more foreign investments, many of which flock to the southern regions of the Kingdom, thanks to the stability that it enjoys. by this last.

Morocco is working on developing alternative energies and accelerating the implementation of renewable energies programs in accordance with the directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. A set of new initiatives and programs have been developed that will enable the development of renewable energies and enhance the energy security of the Kingdom. These mainly concern supplying desalination plants with renewable energy production units to fill the shortage of energy. Potable water as well as for agricultural irrigation, and providing the national industrial sector with renewable electric energy to reduce the carbon footprint, which will contribute to creating new job opportunities in the industrial field at the national level.
