The nominees for the prestigious “Austra Award 2024” have been announced.

On Wednesday, August 14, the albums nominated for “Austra Award” 2024 – the best album in Latvia – became known. As usual, the list of candidates for the award was published on the air of “Latvijas Radio 5”, announced by the long-time member of the jury Toms Grēviņas together with the winner of 2016, the soloist of the group “Rigas Modes”, Kalvi Bormani. The award winners will be announced at a special ceremony and nominees concert on September 14 at the Hansa stage.

The following albums were nominated for the “Austra 2024” award:

Les Attitudes Spectrales – Songs for anyone

Dirty loops – book Melnezer

Purple Negative – Megabee

Records released in the period from July 1 last year to June 30 this year were considered for the award, as well as their length reaching 8 tracks or 30 minutes. In total, the award jury evaluated more than 120 entries this year, with around half of them receiving at least one vote. In the other evaluation process, the jury will select one winner from the ten nominated entries.

“Austras balva” this time will continue the close cooperation with “Latvijas Radio 5”, as on the air from August 21 to September 11, each named album will be specially celebrated for one day, with the load -artists both visiting the program “Piektais veks” with Linda Samsonova and participating in the column “Tell the record” with Krister Karlsson, as well as being honored in different ways in programs another.

It should be noted that this year’s “Australian award” will also be supplemented by an audience vote organized by the “Delfi” portal, where the audience will be able to choose the best chosen by them from the ten nominated. From August 28, any reader of the portal will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite once a day, and the winner of the vote will receive a “Delphi” likes award, which will allow the implementation of an advertising campaign on the portal in the amount of 1000 euros

This year, the award will be given for the seventh time, and previously it was received by the solo artists Alise Joste and Ansis, as well as the groups “Rigas Modes”, “Satellites LV”, “Polifauna” and “Tribes of the City”. This year’s prize-winning album will be announced at a special ceremony and nominees’ concert on September 14 at the “Hanzas perons” cultural center. Everyone can attend the closing event in person by buying a ticket, which is for sale on the “Biļešu paradīze” network.

The initiators of the “Australia award” are Lauris Anstrauts and Normunds Vucāns, journalists of the music portal “Intro.lv”, it is organized by the association “Austras Award”. The closing ceremony of the award and the concert of the nominees are organized in cooperation with the cultural center “Hanzas perons” and “Latvijas Radio 5 – Pieci.lv”.
