Ahmad Dhani was in the spotlight after he openly banned Once Mekel from performing Dewa 19’s songs.
“I announced that I specifically prohibited Once from singing Dewa 19 songs since I said it in the media today,” said Ahmad Dhani when met by Detikcom in the Pluit area, North Jakarta, Tuesday (28/3).
The father of five said that Dewa 19 is currently on tour after Eid. Therefore, he appealed to no other party to sing their band’s songs during the tour.
“Why? Because Dewa is currently on a tour after Eid every two weeks. So there shouldn’t be other concerts that interrupt the tour,” he explained.
According to the plan, the Pesta Rakyat concert tour series commemorating the 30th decade of Dewa 19 will continue in the city of Bandung.
However, at the concert, Ahmad Dhani emphasized that he would not invite Once Mekel. He called his ex-vocalist’s fee expensive.
“What’s the reason? It’s expensive. That’s all,” said Ahmad Dhani some time ago when met by the media crew.
Previously, a video of Ahmad Dhani’s interview on TikTok went viral about Dewa 19’s honorarium during a gig with Once Mekel and Ari Lasso.
“If the band is 300 million, the singer is 150 (million). If it’s with Virzha it’s cheaper. That’s the singer Ari Lasso or Once,” said the Dewa 19 frontman.
Nevertheless, Dhani has replaced Once by featuring Ari Lasso, Virzha, Mulan Jameela, Mahadewi, The Lucky Laki to The Virgin.
