The Nokia G22 is HMD’s first repairability-focused phone

HMD Global

On the eve of MWC, HMD Global took the lead in releasing three new Nokia phones, the most noteworthy of which is probably the Nokia G22. Keeping up with the recent hot recycling and sustainable themes, the G22 is designed with repairability in mind, and cooperates with iFixit to provide repair tools, parts and repair guides, so that users can try to repair their phones. The toolset costs £5, the replacement battery £23, the panel £45 and the charging dock £19.

In addition to high hardware maintainability and 3-year warranty, the G22 also provides 2-year Android updates and 3-year security updates in terms of software. The G22 phone itself is considered an entry-level phone, equipped with a Unisoc T606 processor, and storage space up to 128GB (but can be expanded through microSD). The panel size is 6.5 inches and the refresh rate is up to 90Hz. Other specifications include a 50MP main mirror, a 2MP depth-of-field mirror and a 2MP macro mirror, and it supports 20W fast charging. The G22 is available in gray and blue, with prices starting at £150 (approximately NT$5,500 / HK$1,400).

Other specifications include an 8-core 1.6Ghz processor, up to 4GB of memory and 128GB of storage, a 6.5-inch HD+ display and an 8MP selfie camera. C32 will be launched in carbon black, green and pink, and the estimated price is 130 pounds (NT$4,760 / HK$1,220).

The C22 uses the Android 13 series, and HMD claims that it can last for three days on a single charge. The C22 is available in black and sand and is priced at £110 (NT$4,000 / HK$1,030).

In addition, HMD also announced plans to produce mobile phones in Europe. In a press release, HMD said that the first phase will develop the relevant capabilities and processes, with the goal of bringing the production of 5G Nokia devices back to Europe in 2023.
