the ‘no pants’ is a must at New York Fashion Week

Do not wear pants, skirts, or any piece of fabric that would hide your privacy: this is the current trend in fashion. An obsession that we initially owe to the Jenner-Kardashian clan, but which seems to have conquered the hearts of the public and… of the greatest fashion designers. The ‘no pants’ seems to be unanimous, even on the catwalks of New York Fashion Week.

With fashion, you often have to expect everything, but this new fad which consists of leaving the house in tights, if not in panties, turns out to be as unexpected as it is surprising. And yet, in view of the silhouettes presented at New York Fashion Week, which began on February 10, everything leads us to believe that the trend may indeed be part of time. An obsession certainly extravagant but which has – it must be recognized – the merit of reducing, at least by pants, the impact of our dressing room on the planet. A point that is undoubtedly not insignificant for the fashion sphere.

As early as January, we had seen this era of ‘no pants’ taking shape, without really thinking that the creators would go so far as to appropriate it. It was then a question of yet another obsession of fashion icons in search of inventiveness – and buzz – adopted by social network users equally interested in the notion of virality. So far, nothing exceptional, except that the trend has been invited to the traditional Fashion Week, which has just started in New York. A strong signal that could transform a simple trend into a real fad. The legs seem to be out!

55 million views

Associated with Kendall Jenner, following a simple publication in tights – and panties – on Instagram, the trend actually dates back to the last Paris Fashion Week, organized at the end of last September. And it is Kylie Jenner who is at the origin. On the occasion of the parade of the Loewe house, the youngest of the most famous clan on the planet exhibited herself… without pants, wearing in all and for all only a pair of opaque tights topped with white panties. An outfit that obviously did not go unnoticed. Also posted on Instagram, with the message “No pants, no problem” (“no pants, no problem”), the look – just like that of her sister – generated a few million views before establishing itself on TikTok.

Since this release, social networks have been on fire for the ‘no pants’ trend which has already reached 55 million views on TikTok. Snowball effect obliges, many influencers have followed in the footsteps of the two reality TV stars, just to transform the test. And we can say today that it is mission accomplished for Caroline Daur, Chriselle Lim, Chiara Ferragni, and other Hailey Bieber, all seduced by the ‘no pants’, in view of the extent taken by the phenomenon in only a few months. A real tidal wave that has now reached the highest echelons of fashion, as seen in recent days at New York Fashion Week. Regardless of the temperatures outside, and as strange as this trend may seem, we will now have to compose without pants.

On the New York catwalks, the biggest fashion labels seem to have been caught up in this new obsession with an anthology of silhouettes, each lighter than the next. We can cite Prabal Gurung, who unveiled several outfits revealing bodysuits or panties, generally without tights, Christian Siriano, who opted for the same effect but with tights this time, or Dion Lee who made the choice to associate the ‘ no pants’ to boots or waders. And when the designer offers (really) complete silhouettes, he sets his sights on micro-shorts, or almost entirely torn pants, showing that the legs will be very important next season.

New York Fashion Week, which will end on February 15, is only in its infancy, and could still reveal many silhouettes of this type. A trend that will undoubtedly be confirmed in London, Milan, and Paris, the three fashion capitals that will then host this coveted week, whether on the catwalks or in the street where street styles follow each other without ever resembling each other. .
