The nitrogen crisis threatens to nip the expansion plans of the port of Antwerp in the bud. Additional container ships mooring would annually result in an additional emission of 2,250 tons of nitrogen oxides. That is fifteen times more than what is stated in the annulled environmental permit for Ineos’ ethane cracker.
