The Nissan Z, star of the Super Bowl ad

Nissan announced last month that brand ambassador actress Brie Larson would star in its Super Bowl LVI commercial this year, which takes place on February 14, 2022. However, she is absent from the latest teasers which advertise a ” action comedy thriller” titled Thrill Driver. An advertisement that seems to parody the franchise Fast and Furious.

The stars we see are Dave Bautista, Danai Gurira and Eugene Levy. Levy is the long-haired driver behind the wheel of the 2023 Nissan Z. He stars in one of two teasers released by Nissan today. In the short, Levy is seen being chased by men dressed in black on motorcycles and a “mad madesque” looking ’90s car, a sweet mix of Camaro and Firebird.

The second teaser is much shorter than the first. In it, Bautista and Gurira are seen on a motorcycle, trying to outrun some faceless villains. While Larson doesn’t appear in any of the teasers we know of, Nissan says she’ll have a “starring role” in the ad.

The Nissan Ariya, which the company had announced would also make an appearance in the spot, is also absent from this commercial. As a reminder, the Ariya debuted in 2020, it’s an all-electric crossover that should go on sale before the end of the year. The Z coupe will arrive first, but unfortunately not in Europe.

We might get another teaser before the ad airs and, like trailers for feature films, learn a whole lot more about the plot of the ad. Nissan also announced that it was organizing a contest to win a brand new 2023 Nissan Z. The competition is open until February 15.
