The Nintendo Switch OLED screen will only burn in after 3,600 hours

In the fall of 2021, Nintendo launched a ‘refresh’ of the Nintendo Switch in the form of the Nintendo Switch OLED: a nice upgrade, especially the new screen. There were some concerns, however, as OLED screens are known to burn in over time and leave ugly smudges in your screen.

Leave it to the YouTubers to find out exactly how many hours it takes and the answer might surprise you: it takes a whopping 3,600 hours for the Nintendo Switch OLED to show the first signs of ‘burn-in’. Bob Wulff shows in the video below how he left a fierce screenshot of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the screen for months at a time.

According to Wulff, it takes more than five months before your beloved Switch OLED starts to burn in, and for this he had to use a static image and that at full screen brightness: something that almost never occurs during normal use.
