Books – Ahmed El Saadawi:
Commenting on the latest developments regarding the Renaissance dam, Dr Abbas Sharaki, a professor of geology and water resources at Cairo University, said satellites showed that the dam’s two turbines had ceased operating from late August and early September. as shown in the attached photos.
Sharaki added, via a post on his Facebook page: And for those who have pictures of them in operation (the turbines) at the time, let them announce. The shutdown of the two turbines is not a big deal until we state it; Because while they work they do not matter, neither in terms of electricity production nor in terms of water passage, if not to raise the morale of the Ethiopian people without a real return.
The professor of geology and water resources at Cairo University added that it is possible to operate the two turbines in case of calm water, low silt and set up the transmission network.
Sharaki said: Satellites show the opening of the gates of the Sudanese dams of Roseires, Sennar and Meroe; Allow some of the water to pass towards the High Dam, continuing to store it even for the prescribed altitude.
And the professor of geology and water resources at Cairo University continued: According to behavior; The Blue Nile at the Damazin scale on the Sudanese-Ethiopian border, the behavior of the river in September is above the average by more than 20%, which has led to the return of the height of the Nile River in Khartoum of 22 cm above of the flood level, reaching 16.72 meters on 20 September, is 36 cm higher than the day before yesterday.
