From April this year, the technology company “Wolt” launched a 24-hour service in all Baltic capitals – Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius. According to the data collected by the company, during the night hours, the residents of Riga stand out among their Baltic neighbors with their desire for ice cream and flowers, as well as by purchasing pregnancy tests. On the other hand, residents and guests of the capitals of all the Baltic States are fond of fast snacks – pizzas, kebabs, burgers and french fries – between midnight and eight in the morning.
“More than a year ago, we invited our cooperation partners – restaurants and retail stores – to revise their working hours, because we observed a significant increase in the number of orders late at night. The lifestyle of today’s society and flexible working hours are rapidly changing, which also forces various service providers, caterers and traders to adapt. Currently, there are thousands of people in Riga for whom the night hours are the most convenient time to make larger or smaller purchases. According to M. Lomsargis, the differences between Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius “Wolt” users can be seen in night orders from retail stores. The favorite choice of night food for residents and guests of Riga and Tallinn is various types of burgers, kebabs and pizzas, but residents of Vilnius also enjoy deep-fried dumplings.
Currently, in Riga, meals and various types of goods can be ordered from more than 25 different restaurants and retail stores around the clock, but considering the high demand, it is estimated that the number of companies will continue to grow.
