The Night of Ideas celebrated on March 3 in New York

The night of ideas returns this year with a new theme, “More? », to question the productivism and excesses of our physical and digital society, and encourage us to think about a more sustainable and equitable world. In New York City, this event free will take place on Friday, March 3, from 4:30pm to midnight, and will be held in four different locations, each offering a sub-theme: Afro-futurism at the Metwomen’s rights at Villa Albertine, technology and social media in the information age at the Ukrainian Institute of America, and environmental challenges and land rights at the NYU Institute of Fine Arts.

The sad anniversary of the war in Ukraine (one year on February 24th) marks the programming this year, particularly at the Ukrainian Institute (2 E 79th Street) where a large part of the workshops and conferences will take place. Dancer Wanjiru Kamuyu, who has lived in Kenya, the United States and France, will present an excerpt from her show “An Immigrant’s Story » which questions the otherness and the hierarchy of different types of migration. French journalist Bruno Patino, president of ARTE, will discuss with three students the issue of “media fatigue” and how to remedy it, while journalists Tatiana Serafin and Lauren Wolfe will discuss the documentation of the war.

Still at the Ukrainian Institute, you can also go to a Detox Room and let yourself be guided, in movement and meditation, by the French artist and therapist Amélie Gaulier and the musician Caroline Davis, to reconnect with yourself and face this feeling of overflow.
