NEW YORK. In tonight’s NHL sweep, we tell, among other things, how Canada’s stars are currently being dominated by the rest of the world – and that it cost the New York Rangers dearly to take a sixth straight victory.

THE CANDESIAN HUMILIATION OF THE NIGHT

Canada is used to its stars ruling the NHL, but this season it’s not at all like that.

After the night’s round, it is actually the case that for the first time ever, the “homeland of hockey” does not have a single player among the top ten in the points league.

The rest of the world dominates.

Here’s the Top 10 out at the beginning of November 2023: 1. Jack Hughes (USA) 20 points, 2. Elias Pettersson (Sweden) 19 points, 3. Jesper Bratt (Sweden) 18 points, 4. Quinn Hughes (USA) 16 points , Artemi Panarin (Russia) 16 points, 6. Dylan Larkin (USA) 15 points, 7. Mikko Rantanen (Finland) 14 points, David Pastrnak (Czech Republic) 14 points, William Nylander (Sweden) 14 points, 10. Leon Draisaitl ( Germany) 13 points, JT Miller (USA) 13 points, Alex DeBrincat (USA) 13 points and William Karlsson (Sweden) 13 points.

COSTEST VICTORY OF THE NIGHT

The New York Rangers are in red-hot form and battled their way to their sixth straight win against the Carolina Hurricanes last night – despite it being the first home game after a long road trip, when NHL teams for unknown reasons tend to be extremely sluggish,

But the 2-1 win – secured by 21-year-old rookie Will Cuylle midway through the third period – came at a cost.

Both star quarterback Adam Fox and center Filip Chytil were forced to leave the game early due to injuries and may both be out for a while.

– They will be examined more closely on Friday. We’ll see, says coach Peter Laviolette with a grimace.

THE MOST HAPPY OF THE NIGHT

The Washington Capitals played their first game since Swedish club icon Nicklas Bäckström announced he is taking another break due to injury – and it looked like they were going around figuring out how to get by without him.

There they were also blanked by the New York Islanders at home in Capital One Arena.

– We are in the ninth round now and cannot score. It is no longer enough to just create chances and hope that it will soon come loose, sighs coach Spencer Carbery after the 3-0 blow.

Simon Holmström from Tranås scored one of the guests’ goals, while Pierre Engvall answered for an assist – and Semyon Varlamov kept his second straight clean sheet in the net.

NIGHT’S AWAY TEAM

The LA Kings remain undefeated on the road after a 3-2 win against the Ottawa Senators at the Canadien Tire Center.

– I think it has felt like we have been a good away team ever since I came into the league and now we have acquired a bit of “swagger”. We ourselves believe that we are good and can win in all halls, says Adrian Kempe.

He contributed two assists himself, while Carl Grundström scored his fourth goal. Andreas Englund also played until a goal.

OTHER RESULTS OF THE NIGHT

Columbus squeaked by with a 4-2 victory against Tampa (an assist by Emil Bemström), Florida blanked the Red Wings (2-0) in Detroit, Dallas beat the Oilers 4-3 in Edmonton, Arizona battled to a 3-2- Victoria vs. Montreal and Seattle’s much-needed 4-2 win over Nashville (an assist by Alex Wennberg for the Kraken and one by Filip Forsberg for the Predators)

SWEDES OF THE NIGHT

Jesper Bratt, New Jersey Devils – hottest of all, accounted for four new points in St Paul.Elias Pettersson, Vancouver Canucks – defended second place in the scoring league with three assists as the Canucks played in San JoseWilliam Karlsson, Vegas Golden Knights – a goal and a assist, now has an eight-game point streakCarl Grundström, LA Kings – fourth goal of the night, a very strong performance by one who is sometimes forgotten.Alexander Holtz, New Jersey Devils – opened the scoring as the Devils downed the Wild.Simon Holmström, NY Islanders – scored a nice goal against WashingtonWilliam Nylander, Toronto Maple Leafs – “only” one assist in the losing game against Boston but it was enough to extend the point streak. It is ten games long now.
