The Overseas Hockey NHL has suspended all contracts it has with the Russian Continental Hockey League (KHL). As a result, the profiling club may find it difficult to sign contracts with KHL players.

The NHL leadership told clubs on Monday to cut off contact with players’ agents from Russia. They may continue to communicate with North American agents certified by the NHLPA, but will find it more difficult to contract with hockey players who work for the KHL. This was stated by the AP agency, which was confirmed by NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly.

The overseas competition decided to cut off contacts with the KHL after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The league announced last week that it would immediately suspend all relations with business partners in Russia and suspend social and digital media websites in Russian.

The league leadership added that it did not consider Russia as a place for any future competitions involving the NHL. The NHL has not yet taken any major steps towards the Russian players in the competition. Almost 40 hockey players born in Russia currently play in the prestigious overseas league.
