NHL Vice President Bill Daly declared “Match TV” that the goalkeeper of the Russian national team Ivan Fedotov, whom CSKA wanted to sign after serving in the army, has a valid contract with the Philadelphia Flyers.

“He has a valid and binding contract for the 2023-24 season with the Philadelphia Flyers,” Daley said.

The KHL on Monday, July 3, reported that after a request from CSKA about the possibility of registering an agreement with Fedotov, they turned to the NHL to clarify the player’s contractual status.

The KHL did not approve the transfer of the goalkeeper of the national team to CSKA without the permission of the NHL

Fedotov won the Gagarin Cup with CSKA in 2022, after which he signed a one-year agreement with Philadelphia. However, the goalkeeper could not leave for the NHL, since on July 1 he was detained in St. Petersburg on suspicion of evading the army and sent to the army. Fedotov tried to challenge the decision to call for service, but later withdrew the suit.

CSKA President Igor Esmantovich said in May that the goalkeeper wants to play for CSKA. But Philadelphia said in June that the goaltender’s contract had been suspended and would remain in effect through the 2023-24 season.

Fedotov is the silver medalist of the Beijing Olympics in the Russian team, the best goalkeeper in the KHL in the 2021/22 season.
